Digging up the 9th Green

On Saturday 9th February 2002, work began on improving the 9th Green. Course Manager, John MacLean is seen in the photo working alongside the hired excavator. The green is to be raised and extended with the approach area widened and leveled off. It is hoped that it will be playable before the start of the new season. The idea of building an entirely new green was discussed but it was decided that its present location is such that improvements to it was the better option.

Many life members as well as ordinary members took the opportunity to contribute to the club through the Gold, Silver and Bronze Associates scheme and frames are now in place on the "Bunker" walls with the names expertly appended in our Captain's best calligraphy. The scheme has brought much needed revenue to the club and we are grateful and very appreciative of the generosity of contributing members. It is only through support like this that we are able to retain the services of John MacLean. It is vitally important that we manage to keep him in our employment as it would be extremely disappointing if the good work he has done in improving and maintaining the course since he started were to end.
